Help For Victims Of Bedroom Tax: The E-Petition

February 3, 2013

I’ve just signed this e-petition on the Government website. It’s titled Help For Victims Of  Bedroom Tax.

A statistic that scared me, for those who don’t already know it: Three quarters of those hit hardest are disabled.

So, readers, if you live in the UK, please make signing this petition your bit of campaigning for today.

Why are vulnerable people being targetted people who keep their childrens rooms for when they are home from uni or who have died are now having to pay

I am not in the unfortunate position of being a victim of social housing,. If a tenant has paid the going rent for a 2 or 3 bedroomed dwelling then whether there are spare bedrooms or not, he is still paying the asked for rent for that number of bedrooms. This is like profit making asking for more money as the correct rent is being paid. When buying, you pay more for a 3 bedroomed house than you do for a 2 bedroomed. Whats the difference. They have paid the asked for rent for years and now they want money for spare rooms? How much more have the poor and working class got to give. People live in their homes till they die so as a pensioner who has lived in a house all their lives, it is their home, they have to find more money or move out – to where? an anti-social block of concrete. We are not all in this together.

It’s NOT what they have to give? So much as what they won’t now get as it’s a CAP to the benefit paid per claim accounting for how many bodies live in the property ! BT is not nessesarily wrong per-say however it’s execution most definately is, it’s inflexibility and known effects disproportionately upon the disabled making it grossly unfair, unjust and unworkable before it’s even begun ( under 60 days to go till first day of charging) it’s unworkable due to there firstly being NO smaller properties into which they can downsize into and secondly due to mass urban myth, hype outright lies and spin that’s now surrounding it suddenly due to the “media” finally highlighting it after of course first labeling ALL such benefit claimant liars, cheats and such leaving NO public support what’s so ever it’s a very small % of the population that’s affected although a large % of working age rent benefit claimants it’s NOT new it’s been back and forward for almost a year and a half now where were all these folk then, some of us have followed it since day one and NOTHING has significantly changed since then and neither shall it prior to “D-day” either BT is undoubtably here to stay and will blight many of the UK’s already worst hit, most vunerable persons and families and what’s worse is all they had to so to make a very helpful, workable help to all was firstly to include ALL tenants and secondly to assess on a one to one basis supplying help, guidance and support along the way instead of ONLY just now telling tenants at almost the 11th HR to little to late I’m afraid it’s been left to FB pages such as ours to pick up the slack a utter disgraceful way to Grady already vureable people which goes with saying Want help advise support or guidance log on to Bedroom Tax Chat page (link below)

I am 50 years old, I have a two bedroom house. I have lived there for 20 years and made it into my home. When I was working, I paid out a lot of money on wooden floors and decoration etc and now I am no longer working and probably too sick to work again (and too old) the council want to take my home away from me. This is not fair and it is not right! Yet again this unjust government has taken it upon themselves to steal from the very poor! We must stand up to this government and refuse these laws. Kick this government out NOW! My Grandfather fought a war to prevent this type of Marxist Government. If this was happening in some other country our people would be outraged! Once we accept this law there will be others equally damning for older people, disabled people and probably they will bring in a fat tax like the smoking tax.

What are you thinking?
