On The Eve Of The Paralympics, Our Editor Calls For #RightsAndGames

September 7, 2016

A personal opinion on the Paralympics:

There are some very respected disability campaigners who this week are protesting against the Paralympics because they would rather have rights for disabled people, and disability benefits, than the Games.

I completely understand the point these campaigners are making. However, I strongly believe that all disabled people should be fully supported to do anything they find interesting. Personally, I’m no Paralympian, but if, for you, that’s Paralympic sport, I’ll gladly sit on the edge of my sofa cheering you on.

All I will ask in return is that when you come home, you use your high profile to fight for improvements in the lives of the whole disability community.

On the eve of the Paralympics, I call for #RightsandGames.

I wish all the Paralympians lots of fun, friendship, safety and success. May the fastest wheelchair (or blade) win!

They all promoted Atos in 2012…

2016 and their C4 ads are sponsored by *Maximus* shareholders Allianz.

All still quiet over there (kerching).

But are the sponsors the fault of the players?

Well… I doubt that they did all of those C4 Allianz ads for free.
        Who would?
Are any of them going to do anything but remain quiet?

And what *might* happen to their lottery funding?

        >But are the sponsors the fault of the players?
I wouldn’t do TV interviews wearing something that had “Atos” written all over it….
        Unless I lost all of my morals… or I just didn’t give a s**t.
(personally speaking, they don’t have enough cash to bribe me)

I am no Paralympian but I do watch our comrades in Rio and I keep my fingers crossed they will bring back more medals to the UK. Sod Atos, Maximus etc, these lads and lassies have trained to be the very best they can. If we could do what they do, we would surely go and do it, and enjoy it. There are still far too many disabled athletes etc who have had their mobility cars snatched away, their funding cut and promises broken. Often work is not an option and many of us, and others will be pigeon hold once more. We live in a crazy world where able bodied brainless shameful men and women seek to make our lives far worse than now. How many hundreds of disabled people died? So I see the Paralympics as a small refuge, and I expect our paralympians to come home with their medals etc, and give the ‘V’ sign to the potty bureaucrats who think they know best when they know nothing.

I just forced myself to watch C4’s ‘The Last Leg: Live from Rio’

    I counted –
Ten Allianz(Maximus) ads and one logo in a clip
and Three ‘Atos’ logos in clips
    .

Their presenter ‘Alex’ made a cheap one liner joke about ‘dwp cuts’… Yeah, f***ing hilarious mate…. Well, so long as you’re all right.

There were a couple of clips from some swanky paralympics gala… Did you see the word “Deloitte” on the big screens?
    That’s the dwp’s Ingeus Deloitte –

    >”How many hundreds of disabled people died?”
I guess enough so far to pay for Paralympians and C4’s canapes.
    .

There was one absolutely brilliant joke right at the start… the presenter said that it was “Channel 4’s Year of Disability”. ROFLMAO
