Is Frankie Boyle Funny?

I’m linking to this article from Sunday’s Observer. It’s a debate about whether Frankie Boyle is funny. It’s no secret on this site that I don’t find Frankie Boyle at all funny- what do you think, readers?

I have also blogged on this article. Even from the mainstream, I do not find Boyle funny either. But, as I pointed out in my own blog, I was more interested in the views of the writer who did find hime such a barrel of laughs. Boyle’s act was defended in the name of free speech, boundary pushing, challenging political correctness and so on. All so predictable and such a worn argument it was threadbare. It is a poor reflection on the mainstream that someone who is taking an important issue back decades should be regarded as a gifted performer.
