This is so sad, what have we become – is this not a civillised democracy? Were the areas that are having services cut even canvassed or surveyed beforehand, to find out what the impact of cuts in that area would be? Perhaps not, that would have cost money? Why are the needy being sidelined, marginalised, ignored? They tell us there’s simply not enough money for all the services used by vulnerable people who GENUINELY need; while the system at the same time has become corrupted, by the scheisters “in charge” and the scheisters who know how to play the system. Dear God, life is difficult enough for ANYONE hard of hearing, to access, live happily (without prejudice) and function within this so called “society” WITH SUPPORT – what in Pooo’s name are the thousands of families with deaf children who are DEPENDENT on this vital support FOR QUALITY OF LIFE (that is being withdrawn) to do now?
My Mum is hard of hearing, along with a myriad of ailments she also has COPD Asthma. I recently tried to get onto a local BSL course, so that I could learn and teach Mum some basic stuff, to use in a case where she didn’t have the breath to vocalise what’s wrong – to a doctor/ nurse/ paramedic – but also to open a line of communication for her, within the deaf community. The course was cancelled, because of a lack of subscription. So where can I access BSL? I don’t know. I also don’t know if I were to ring my council if they could tell me where. If the government are going to remove funding for support for deaf children in the community then surely what they must be doing in it’s stead, to help to bridge the gap, is make BSL a compulsory component of languages in schools – if they don’t already – I’ve no children and left school years ago?! Would they tell us there’s no money for that either? Does this mean the promises that were made in the run up to the election, about looking after people who really need help in society have been broken, and the bank of opportunity to prosperity, for vulnerable people for now, is closed for business? I dearly hope not.
