Kaliya Franklin, better known here as Bendygirl, has written an article for today’s Guardian about her wait for a wheelchair, and what wheelchair waiting times mean for disabled people.

Same Difference 
They don’t take into account that us people who need and could very much make use of a powered wheelchair outside, often live in such poky unsuitable places that we have to “furniture & wall” walk through their home, barely enough room for a roller frame, let alone a powered chair!
Not to mention the fact you can only make use of and store a powered wheelchair if you live in a disabled adapted bungalow – now what’s the waiting list for one of them?????????????????????????
Let’s not get onto how many places are still not fully wheelchair accessible anyway – that would be pointless.
