Apprentice Tom Has Dyslexia

July 19, 2011

Seems Lord Sugar is sweeter than he looks! He’s gone into business with a DisAbled man. I’m very pleased to read this post at the BBC Ouch Blog. What I don’t know, since I don’t watch The Apprentice, is- is Tom the first DisAbled winner?

    Thanks for this post SameDifference1.
How exciting for Tom, that things are really starting to take off for him.
He must have had some immensely frustrating experiences at times; it would seem he’s promptly turned them and his natural talent into a huge positive at every turn – definitely one to watch – I love my curved nail file!

Guy Ritchie is also dyslexic – as a fan I can argue the vision he has as a movie maker, so it’s no surprise that Tom has found a way to apply HIS extraordinary vision to his career too.
It’s much believed that the human psyche, when compensating for disability, can find other ways of thinking and communicating being honed and trained – if we can only find the channel – focus is the key! Tom’s story gives hope that focus can be found.

SameDifference1 recently reported on Dan McIntyre, the totally groovy guy, a wheelchair user, who drove a 1930’s mobility scooter machine across the Alps!
He is a fine example too, of someone not so much brave (though I think he’d have to be a bit of that) but I think just willing; to live large with passion and do things with their life that turn misconceptions about disabled people on their head!
As a sports-fan I really admire Oscar Pistorious, the blaze he’s trailing is awesome!
There’s something thrilling about being around and hearing about these visionary, high-functioning, high-achievers. With patience and consideration many people could achieve beyond their expectations. Any hope I have for the future is fuelled by Dan and Tom’s stories.
