A Complaint To ATOS

February 6, 2014

A mother has sent this complaint to ATOS after her recent assessment. I am sharing it because I totally agree with her that she should not have been treated in this way by a ‘professional’ in their ‘professional’ environment.

I think it should be shared widely, as yet another example of exactly what these ‘professionals’ are like.

sorry but even though atos are heartless and cruel , this woman should not have attended with her kids why were they not at school .and if she could’t get a sitter to watch her kids , why on earth didn’t the eldest kid who is 9 sit in the waiting room with the younger one

They were not at school because January 11th was a Saturday. It is quite normal for there to be no school on Saturdays.

Not everyone can afford sitters or have friends or family who can sit for them.

She has already said she was not offered the chance to talk privately. She can’t just leave her young children in an unknown busy place for an unknown length of time without someone keeping an eye on them for her.

I didn’t know ATOS assessments take place on Saturdays too. I’ve learnt something new today!

I’m afraid that while I am sympathetic to her plight the situation is unless she told them in advance she would need to take the children she can’t expect someone to be able to watch them and in the case of an office such as this I believe the older child could have watched the younger. Unless of course one was hoping taking the children would provide some clemency. Unfortunately this may have backfired with this particular ‘professional’!!
