BFI London Film Festival: Neurodiverse Films – The Stimming Pool And Patrice The Movie

September 20, 2024

A press release, published by request of the BFI London Film Festival.

THE STIMMING POOL

Director Steven Eastwood and the Neurocultures Collective invite you to experience the oscillating beat of the neurodiverse experience.

It is rare for neurodiverse people to be authors of their own story. In The Stimming Pool, we see five neurodiverse artists create a singular visual project that offers a fascinating glimpse into their singular perspective on the human experience. A triumph in artful filmmaking, this unique and extraordinary work is a visceral experience not to be missed.

PATRICE: THE MOVIE

Prepare to fall in love with Patrice Jetter – crossing guard, artist, figure skater, disability activist and much, much more – in Ted Passon’s warm-hearted and compassionate documentary.

Patrice and Garry want to get married. But as they’re both disabled, if they do tie the knot they risk losing their disability benefits. However, Patrice is a fighter. This is not a story of a disabled person ‘beating the odds’. Instead, using her artwork as a backdrop, Patrice and her community imaginatively tell us her story, on her own terms.

Premiering on Saturday 19 October 2024 20:45, Vue West End, Screen 5

Second screening: Sunday 20 October 2024 18:15, BFI Southbank, NFT3
