This is why the Tory bingo poster isn’t just funny – it’s downright creepy:

Pride's Purge

(not satire – it’s the Tories!)

Here’s an extract from George Orwell’s novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four (my highlights):

Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbours, films, football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult. All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And when they become discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontentment led nowhere, because being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances.

Remind you of anything?

Hardworking as in a job, hardworking as in trying to scrape by or hardworking as in sitting on your butt laughing at the less fortunate, playing guess work with peoples lives, or is another way of belittling, humiliating and killing off people on benefits, I have worked damned hard all my life then because of it I became ill and had to stop working and claim benefits, those benefits I pay tax on, I am now in receipt of ESA and I pay tax on that and it is damned hard work firstly to have prove that Im ill and secondly to survive on the pennies I receive each week, I still have my home and children to care for that is hard work on it’s own, it would nice to sit down and socialise, playing bingo and unwind but that now it seems is for the elite.
