Proof if ever it was needed. Well IBS’s intention is that the job centre service to be completely digital eventually and only a handful of DWP staff to remain, the remainder to be handed over to work programme providers. So, God willing, these snivelling little jobsworths will be signing on in the queue behind us and sanctioned by their former colleagues.

This is years old, at least Jan 2012 if not older and not relevant to today’s problems in the changes to the benefit system!

It may be two years old and I don’t usually post such old things but I only saw it when I posted it, and I think that it is relevant- because what happens in DWP staffrooms is always relevant. If it was happening then, how can we say it’s not happening now?

Unfortunately this is a very old piece of paper. 24th Jan, and no year. Note the ‘DP’ comment about hitting 95%: Direct Payment (benefits paid directly into a bank account) is currently above 99.8% in every jobcentre.

This is at least 2 years old. Yes, I work for DWP; no, I don’t think sanctions are a good thing. I think they’re unconscionable, but spreading inaccurate information only serves to obfuscate the real misery, which goes unreported.

Judgment at Nuremberg was a 1951 film about the war trials which I would recommend to anyone; even though I’m about to give away major plot elements. Burt Lancaster plays the part of a senior member of the German judiciary called Ernst Janning. The film depicts the trial and the horrendous crimes against humanity of those who were meant to serve justice. Lancaster, as Janning, eventually explains in to the court how a madness had took over the German people and expresses regret.

The person his character was based upon, Reich Minister of Justice Franz Shlegelberger was tried at the Nurembourg trials. Shlegelberger, however, never showed an ounce of remorse for the torture, sterilisation, and execution of innocent Disabled, Jews, Poles, Communists, Gypsies, and Homosexuals. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for his atrocities, but released in 1951 due to severe ill health. He then lived out the remaining years of his life in comfort, on a pension five times the average German salary, before his death in 1970. He never showed remorse and continued to believe he was right.

People like you Elyss, will continue to allow the degradation and death of other human beings. You will defend the system as best you can. I hope some form of justice eventually occurs, though you are the type of person who will never feel guilty.

Robert – I think you need to real Elyss’s comment a little more carefully. He is most certainly NOT defending ‘the system’, even though he has the misfortune to work in it. Personally, I think you should apologise…

jacobusmcmxlvii, people are killing themselves and literally starving to death. Elyss is attempting to claim targets which exist, don’t. I will never apologise to her, and I will hold her and every one of her colleagues who hard heartedly just do their job whilst people lose their lives in the deepest contempt for the rest of my life. As will many other people who value the lives of all people, including the disabled. She may never touch humanity and feel guilt. Her misfortune, the misfortune of her colleagues, is nothing compared to the misfortune of their victims.

Robert, I’m sorry you do need to apologise. I used to work in a job centre way back in the late 90’s and i did so as it was the only job i could get. If you stand by what you are saying you are literally saying that the multitude of people who work for the state, nurses, civil servants etc etc arre no better than Nazi war criminals which is utter bollocks.

Hexenducation saying it was the only job I could get is no excuse I’ve been unemployed a few times in my life but in the last ten years or so the tossers who work for the DWP and all the other satellite departments plus all the private companies you contract to and by you I mean the DWP not hexwhatnot such as g4s atos interserve treat you like scum and act as if it was there money you are entitled to they are the scumbags justifying themselves by saying shite like I’m hearing here and especially now we know Osbourne is sitting on 30bn in ni contributions why his he doing that the bill last year for jobseekers income support and ESA came to around 15bn one bn less than housing benefits the biggest expenditure is state pension at just over 74 bn so we are more than capable of meeting the cost but the govt as chosen to bare face lie to us austerity is just plain fraud simple as that hard working families my arsed if I hear another Tory say that shitty little sound bite I will scream

This gives the lie to the government’s claim that they don’t have targets for sanctioning people, as well as the moral inversion at the heart of the modern DWP that sees denying people help as something to celebrate, rather than the provision of money to raise people out of poverty.

No point in having a pop at anyone working at a job centre really is it. No disrespect here but, they are mere pawns, ten a penny people, who are directed to do what they do, and if they don’t, they are just sacked. That isn’t a problem, as there are 2.5 million waiting to replace them. Its the bastards at the top… ie ….IDS, and those who contrive with him, to reap the misery on those that need the most help, who should be brought to account for their demonization, and inhumane treatment given to our poor, sick, disabled, and unemployed. Am I right in saying…Misleading the house, was something an MP cannot get away and with at any time? I cannot imagine that cabinet members would tell the house one thing, then step outside and tell the people something entirely different. That would be an act of complete stupidity.

Tony, it’s only stupid if he does not know in advance that the predominantly pro-Conservative media will let him get away with it. Though, it might be case of hubris if we can get him held to account for lying to parliament.

They are all thieves, liars and cheats. How much convincing do you need? Expenses scandal, plebs row, Lords signing in for £300.00 20 mins the list is endless. Doesn’t matter whether its the two sons of wealthy banker families running the show, one who’s related to the queen or the like of war mongering Liar Blair. Everything they do is solely for their benefit first, your just the suckers who pay for everything but yet you all keep voting for them. Basically saying we need you to steal from us because we are all so utterly useless at administrating our own affairs. Voting only encourages these psychopaths like IBS. How come they don’t jail the bankers? Because the bankers are their bosses who continue to be paid millions for grand larceny, oh fines you say, well thats just the thieves carving up the loot, that’s their end of the deal then back to business as usual plundering the poor.

DMA stands for Decision Maker Approval, which isn’t just for sanctions. It’s also for new claims, change of benefit referrals etc. Without sanctions, the potheads of this world (it was a pothead’s Facebook page I saw this on), anyone could get up when they like, sign on when they like (or not), not bother looking for any kind of work and generally do fuck all but live off the state. I know at least 30 people who do this and then complain when they miss an appointment and their money stops. People need to take some fucking personal responsibility for their lives and go with the system. And, in case you were wondering, yes, I used to work for DWP, and yes, I am currently unemployed and struggling like everyone else. Without sanctions, the same as a world without law and order, we would live in complete anarchy, with everyone doing just as they please. The world doesn’t and couldn’t work like that. Grow up people.

Dear John, we have had unemployment benefit for around 50 years and without a sanctions regime for about 46 of those years. Prior to 1982 Britain had not had an unemployment rate that ever rose above 900,000 and for most that time was below 400,000. Even since the 1980s, and the abandonment of full employment as government policy, unemployment goes up towards 3 million when there is a recession and down towards 1 million when there is sustained growth of GDP. The point here is that all the evidence makes it undeniably true that unemployment, in a statistically significant respect, is positively related to how well the economy is doing (i.e. how much demand there is for goods and so employees) and not a disease of laziness that strikes the population every time there is a recession. Another way to look at this is: if every unemployed person applied for all the jobs there are in the economy and with a perfect C.V., 2 million of them would not get a job. That is with the level of demand there is in the economy at present..
