Up To Six Month Wait For DLA Appeal DATE
October 31, 2013
With many thanks to @Inkysloth for Tweeting the letter.
In his words “F***!”
So not only does a person lose money which is needed for essential equipment and services, and sometimes for food and heating, but they have to wait up to six months just to find out when they’ll be told when they might get that essential money back. And then of course there is the possibility that after all that, they might lose the appeal anyway.
Shocking.
Many thanks must also go out to @SocietyGuardian for covering this in their daily bulletin. Other media organisations should join them, and soon.
Something needs to be done about this, and fast.

Have any of these freaks of nature been diagnosed as insane?
Ive been waiting 13 months. Had a meetind with them last month, only for it to be postponed for medical records they want to see. Surely they should be the 1st things they want as well as the forms we have to fill in ???????
It’s up to 25 weeks before the Tribunal write and give a date for the hearing, so in reality, it is likely to be 6-8 months wait.
When they start to reassess the 2 million who are on DLA for the migration to PIP, the waiting lists for appeals are likely to be far worse.
Either they haven’t thought this through, or else Iain Duncan Smith HAS thought it through, KNOWS what chaos is going to happen and is hoping it will be someone elses problem by that time.
I have my ESA Appeal Tribunal coming up – 2 days short of the anniversary of the “Fit For Work” decision arriving on my doorstep. I thought that the 40 mile round trips I had had to undertake for the 2 Tribunals into the removal of my DLA award was bad enough, The ESA is 55 miles from my home! That’s over 100 miles round trip.
Thanks to the nature of my disability, the train station is too far from the Tribunal centre so I will need a taxi as the bus routes are confusing in Brighton and as I don’t visit it often I don’t know the routes.
So, I have to pay out up front for train tickets and taxis to get me to the tribunal – I’ll have to have about £20 for the taxis, the train is £13. That’s £53 a familiar figure for a single person on JSA – it’s more than a week’s money! Yet the Court Tribunal service think nothing of making me spend it and wait for them to put it back in my bank.
Thank god I was put on “Assessment Rate” while this was going on. I am tossing up as to whether to apply for an ESA application pack as I have definitely got worse since the WCA in July 2012!
To others in the appeals system – I wish you all the luck I know I wish myself.
WE NEED THIS GOVERNMENT “”OUT “”
i have been wating over 17 months for my appeal to be heard had it cancelled twice once the day before and once onthe day just hours before i should have gone getting really stressed now
