Tory Councillor Wants Return Of Workhouses For Mentally Ill
July 8, 2014
With many thanks to Political Scrapbook.
Forget the 1950s, for Tory councillor Michael Hytche Britain’s golden age was, errr, the 1850s. This was his contribution to Torbay Council Health Scrutiny Board, who had met to discuss the provision of “mental health and learning disability services” against a background of cuts:
“Since the workhouses have been closed down, what has been put in their place? As far as I can see, nothing has been.”
The retired councillor would presumably have enough time on his hands to read the briefing.

WHY WHY WHY WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL. VOTING FOR THESE EVIL PARASITES ?, don’t people realise that the Tories will still stab you in the back as soon as you vote for them, it doesn’t matter who you are, they will destroy you just the same.

UKIP refer to them as ‘congregate communities’. They want to extend them to those with ‘learning difficulties’.

what the hell is going on this country, the corruption everywhere with the professionals, the paedophilia with professionals, what kind of professionals are these people, they are all sick and need to be locked up and the everyday working man needs to take over, at least they will know what people want and need, we are like pawns for these sick professionals to play with, we need to stand together and get them OUT

I love Britain or what was Britain growing up in the 50s/60s the leaders had ethics and integrity well most. I remember the profumo affair. but somewhere everything went down the sewer..and Westminster needs disinfecting with Lysol. a few honest men. just one would be great. I am working class from a council estate but was brought up true blue tory. now i cant see any difference each is as corrupt as the other. I now live abroad. and had to give up my british nationality. I literally had to pay a man to take it away. no one yet has come up with one good argument to reclaim it even though I now can.

I grew up int the 50/s, 60/s as well. I don’t think human nature has changed at all. Much of what is being uncovered now was going on then – just hidden beneath a veneer of respectability and hypocrisy. There were some very masochistic teachers and discipline was often very cruel.
I think in many ways things are a lot better now. Except they are going down the pan with this government as they want to turn the clock back and return to victorian times with the rich and elite on the top and the rest of us as their slaves/serfs.
Yes, both political parties are as corrupt as each other but now we have a chance to sort it and create a fairer, more just and equal society.

Once again, what seems to be satire really is the attitude and opinions of Tory politicians. Tom Pride’s pieces aside, the Tories really do seem to be beyond satire.
