Richard Dawkins Recommends Aborting Downs Babies Because Their Birth Would Be ‘Immoral’

Thanks to Francesca Martinez. I’ve linked to her sharing of the article on Facebook because I couldn’t find the Tweets it mentions.
I did however see him trying to justify the comments on Twitter. I won’t link to those Tweets because I believe that when you’re in the public eye, you can never justify revealing outdated opinions which are offensive to so many in public places. And the web has become a very public place.
What the ***!? indeed.

have lived with adults with downs for many years in residential care and was educated with them in special school and special college, am also a intelectual disability and autism activist and work alongside several adults with downs. even in those with profound complex downs, they are able to have a life they want,it might not suit richards idea of a life but its got nothing to do with him or anyone else who thinks its a tragedy to live. people with DS are some of the most caring, loving, funny people and most contribute to society in different ways, whether its via paid or voluntary jobs, keeping the economy, support work and social care industries going, competing at often high levels in special olympics, even just making someones day a bit better. dont abort babies with downs, embrace them and accept no one is perfect, the world is better with downs, we woudnt have great artists like raymond hu or special olympics athletes like matt montgomery & PJ bernardis.
