Disabled Woman Stole Food From Asda After Benefits Stopped

November 1, 2014

Readers, how many more similar stories am I going to have to cover?

A woman whose benefits had been stopped stole food from a supermarket.

Wendy Rogers, 51, of Garstang Road East, Poulton, pleaded guilty to two offences of theft.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Rogers took a shoulder of pork from Asda on September 28, and the following day returned to the store and took a packet of cream cheese.

Trevor Colebourne, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, was severely disabled and had had numerous operations.

At the time of the theft she had problems over her benefits and was penniless.

Rogers was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

We are the only nation in Europe that does not provide daily free cafes, part state and part charity funded, that provides a free cooked meal and hot drink.

This is for all ages, in or out of work, retired or kids.

A disabled person has to get an appointment to somewhere to get a recommendation for a food voucher to a food bank. But if you are not on benefit, you do not get universal access throughout the UK for a food voucher.

A food voucher that you can only source 3 times in a year.

In a nation that does not subsidise the source of surplus food to food banks, Fareshare, but pays energy from waste private profit making companies to take still edible food and burn it, so denying up to 400,000 tonnes of surplus food to food banks, when such companies, as part of their operating costs, could collect millions of tonnes of rotten food waste direct from households, now going to landfill, and no cost to cash strapped councils.

With the raised retirement age, this could happen to a woman between 60 and 66 from 2013, disabled, little or no chance of re-employment by age not only disability / chronic illness, facing 100 per cent cut of state pension for life.

It would pay for magistrates, police officers, store detectives and prison guards of all ages to sign my petition, before the disabled / chronic sick starving over 50s take up prison space in police cells and prisons.

Also the managements of any food stores, because low paid staff might be too poor to buy food and suffer benefit sanctions months long, as it takes a month to starve to death.

    Anybody?

It’s so very sad that people are being driven to this type of crime by cameron and his cronies.
