JobCentre Appointment? Or Your Life?
March 11, 2015
This is one of 9 ridiculous reasons for sanctioning that the Mirror have picked up on.
A London man missed his Jobcentre appointments for two weeks because he was in hospital after being hit by a car. He was sanctioned.
The others include funerals and asthma attacks. I kid you not.

It literally does not matter to the DWP if you have good cause for non-compliance; decision makers must sanction 80% of referrals regardless.

Oh God yeah being hit by a car is no excuse, attend your appointment or be sanctioned.
What’s next I wonder? Advisors going into hospitals and going “Now come on Mr Jones get up out of bed, take that drip out and look for a job!” Madness.
Nothing this government, especially the DWP does surprises me any more. I’ve lost hope and am hanging on by a thread to see what will happen at this next election.
