Backdated benefit payments are disregarded from capital allowances for 52 weeks

Backdated benefits do not count as capital for a year after its received. Awards of ESA and PIP may increase the amount of other means tested benefits you are entitled to. Non means tested benefits are not affected by capital increases. If you get awarded a new benefit or an increase you need to tell any other offices that pay you to ensure you get the full amount of money you entitled to. Samedifference writes some good articles, however this post is confusing and misleading
