Maggi King’s children’s book raises awareness of the difficulties faced by wheelchair users

March 29, 2017

A press release:

A Collection of Horse-cow Adventures follows Horse-cow, a mixed-up animal that belongs to a lady called Ella, as he embarks upon a variety of adventures. Each short story sees Horse-cow facing a challenge, but all end happily as Horse-cow drifts off to sleep.

The book aims to make young readers aware of the difficulties of being in a wheelchair and Maggi hopes to encourage child wheelchair users with her book. “After three months in hospital, I was discharged in a wheelchair, unable to walk. A lot of my stories are influenced by my learning how much I could do from the wheelchair,” says Maggie, of the impact her wheelchair had on her writing. “Even though they are a life challenge, they can be fun too!”

A Collection of Horse-cow Adventures gives young readers a whole host of fun stories, accompanied by beautiful illustrations that will excite and engage children’s imaginations. The book is simple enough to be read aloud and will encourage younger children to enjoy reading.
