New C4 Series- How To Look Good Naked With A Difference

January 15, 2010

Hot on the wheels of ‘mockumentary’ Cast Offs comes Channel 4’s latest attempt to show DisAbility on screen- Gok Wan’s latest series of How To Look Good Naked.

Titled How To Look Good Naked With A Difference, it sees Gok Wan meeting women with DisAbilities, starting next Tuesday, January 19th, at 8pm.

Until now, I’ve never seen How To Look Good Naked– or particularly wanted to, but I will definitely be watching this.

I’d like to  thank Channel 4 and Gok Wan for bringing much-needed attention to the very important issue of DisAbled women’s body images. And here’s hoping the series is half as good as Cast Offs.

Hi, I am Kelly Knox, who won Britains Missing Top Model (modelling show for girls with disabilities), im still modelling and fighting all of our corners, im doing this for all the disabled people out there, especially the younger girls and boys also who dont have the body confidence due to all the images they see in fashion magazines of so called ‘perfection’ believe in fate and I believe one reason I chose this earthly existence was to be the beacon of light and to be an inspiration and a role model. I’m here for the children, children need positive role models and if they can see me doing my thing with one arm, they can chase their dreams no matter what! Being a model and spokesperson is very important to me, to show people that beauty exists in every shape, colour and form and its about accepting our differences and own uniqueness and shining from within like the stars we all are. I also got the fabulous opportunity to be one of the gokettes on this episode and the chance to meet the beautiful tracey!!! I loved every second of it & Gok is an absolute legend!!!!! xxx LOVE KELLY

    Hello Kelly,

Wow, I am so flattered and in a bit of shock that a celebrity has visited my little old blog and taken time to write such lovely comments to me. Thank you!

I blogged about your victory on Britain’s Missing Top Model, and you are listed as one of my favourite DisAbled inspirations.

    All the best!

And my mission is to prove to people out there that there is more to life than your size/appearance/love handles/saggy boobs/ etc… What’s more important? Having the perfect body or being the perfect human being? Would we rather be an empty shell for as long as said shell is perfect?
