Dale Cregan, 29, In Custody For Killing Two Manchester PoliceWomen, Has One Eye

September 21, 2012

I hadn’t realised that Dale Cregan has one eye.

Cregan, 29, has today been taken into custody charged with the tragic murders of two female police officers in Manchester. He has also been charged with the recent murders of father and son Mark and David Short, who were also from Manchester.

I share the shock of the whole nation at these crimes. No words can describe how serious the crimes are.

This case proves that there is a disability link behind most news headlines, however small and insignificant the link may be.

The Media now have now given themselves a remit to highlight any disability issue in any negative story they cover. This has obviously been borne from the m is-information and falsehoods that have been drip-fed to them by the Department of Works & Pensions (DWP) and the figurehead MPs, Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Grayling and Maria Miller. There have been no positive disability stories in the press as the DWP have ensured that the UK Disabled Community have been vilified and demonised in the eyes of the Public and also seen as the main reason as to why the UK is on the brink of bankruptcy. Such negative casting of a vulnerable group by the media is unfair on this vulnerable group within our Society, yet no-one has ever spoken out against the media about this, not even the Equality & Human Rights Commission, that has been charged with ensuring that protection against such discrimination against us. Until the UK Disabled Community has protection from Society by an organisation such as the Disability Rights Commission that was merged into the Equality & Human Rights Commission, and there is a Commissioner for Disabled People and a Minister for Disabled People, both of whom would actually adhere to their remits and job descriptions, we, the UK Disabled Community will never have any form of Equality or Inclusion within this Disablist Society we find ourselves battling against every day in everything that we do…
