The Secret Button At The Traffic Lights

Readers, did those of you with eyesight know that there is a secret button at pedestrian crossings that spins when those without eyesight can cross safely? I have eyesight, and I didn’t!

The rotating/vibrating cone on the underside of many pedestrian crossing boxes is a HUGE help to blind people such as myself. However, many pedestrian crossings don’t have these cones. Worse still, council neglect can lead the cone to either not function at all or be dangerously out of sync with the actual lights. Plus, there’s always the problem of vandalism and people presuming that the cone is a handy place for them to stick their used gum.
