I’ve Been Linked By A Mainstream Newspaper
Readers, usually when I write that headline, it is because I am thrilled. But this time, sadly, the thrill of knowing my blog was read by a mainstream journalist is tinged with pain.
Because the link to one of my posts is a part of a piece titled The ‘10,600 people died within six weeks of being declared fit to work by Atos’ stat is simply wrong.
Tell me for yourselves, readers, what you think of the Telegraph piece.
The piece makes the point that the DWP says “the large, presumably overwhelming, majority of those 10,600 people died, and then their claims ended because they were dead.”
But I ask- should terminally ill people have ever been made to wait so long for their claims to be processed in the first place, that they sadly died before their outcome?
The only acceptable reason I can think of for anyone to claim the stat is wrong is that more than 10,600 people have died as a result of the Work Capability Assessment process since that picture, now slightly outdated but still extremely powerful, was taken and made public.

The journalist who claims the figures are wrong needs to go through the deaths that have been published at a local level where he will find that ATOS/and the DWP had been negligent and the person who had died was not fit for work
when you place people under stress who are ill you do so knowing full well that there is a good chance of them dying and by doing so you are contributing to their death
only a judge who will have looked at all the evidence can say in what part the DWP/ATOS played a role in that person dying as he will have access to all of the paperwork before him
my own view is that figure is wrong and the figure far higher as there will have been many who had lived alone which would not have made it in to the local press as their would not have been any relatives to have reported it
plus the fact there would have been relatives also who would not have gone to the press in the first place
once an public inquiry comes about hopefully in the future you will find then just how much death has gone on when people come forward who up to now have stayed quite
it will be like the paedophile,cases that have come to light after decades of being in the dark

I find it curious that whilst the DWP couldn’t state either way which side of a claim ending that the deaths happened, journalists and the government shrug the figures off, rather than actually INVESTIGATING the matter. I have lost 3 friends this past 2 years that died just after being told they were fit for work, and the media reports MANY others, This is not a dry topic for one sided speculation and denial, it’sa matter of life and death for some of us. How dare you trivialise this with speculative denial. Don’t the sick and disabled citizens of this country matter? WHY do you think the DWP ‘ don’t keep the details on record’? Because IDS’s office does not want them on record.In a decent. civilised country, the government and the media would have given a shit and INVESTIGATED this properly.
Aktion T4 involved secret killing of sick and disabled people by lethal injection, the method established for killing children. Pneumonia was often recorded as the cause of death. Rather like the governments’ “helping people into work” by cutting off their lifeline benefits.

The responsible ministers claim that the folk would have dies anyway…but this is the whole crux of the matter…IF IT WAS KNOWN THEY WERE DYING…..WHY WERE THEY FOUND ‘FIT FOR WORK’ AND THEIR INCOME STRIPPED AWAY ???????

You both raise good points also the government have always shown how callous they really are by their tone of language used when talking about those that have died like stock for example
In addition, decent person like me would never ever use that type of word in the first place. If I were in government and i heard of a potential wrong I would at least make sure that person was ok by sending a senior DWP official to their home to make sure all was well leaving nothing to chance
all you can do at the present time if found fit for work but are not is to appeal but there will be many too ill to appeal and the government must surely know that fact and if they don’t what the hell are they doing by in office in the first place
their main duty when selected as a mp or minister is to show that you care first and foremost for your constituents that is the top priority and for those that think otherwise should not even be in politics at all
you go into politics to serve others first and four most and not like the vast majority do at this time themselves’ and it’s about time that all mp’s truly evaluate of why there are there and to stand down and make way for someone else if hand on heart they don’t have the sick and disabled best interest at heart which allows them to die through negligence

The DWP are like worms wriggling on a fishing line, they will do anything to detract from 10,600 people who died awaiting their assessments. If I were you Sarah I would feel pleasently pleased it had hit the mainstream press. Many people will thank you for raising this in the first place.

Our United Kingdom is a company. We are merely products for the elite and polititions to make money out of, like any product that does not work you throw it away. As soon as we are registered at birth we are contracted into the system. Our natural instinct to live, a happy life on this beautiful planet is not acceptable. Many people would be quite happy to live a non monetary life, growing our own food, bartering skills etc..but no, we cant. We are separated from each other with hardly any chance of having space to meet and greet without licences or permission or a police presense. We have to demand that money is not a natural desire, its what we want with the money…things to make us content. Unfortunately all the beautiful things that we can enjoy for free are being poisoned, hunted and ruined. If we can stop applauding, admiring and worshipping the rich ie; Celebraties, we might find our own lives more fulfilling and actually see our vunerable and terminally ill as valuble sources of human information. I enjoy the company of those with real issues to deal with not those who just aspire to be economically rich.
