Right To Die Campaigner Debbie Purdy Dies

December 30, 2014

I’ve come back to some very sad news today, readers. Right to die campaigner Debbie Purdy recently died of natural causes.

I did not agree with her views on the right to die. However the news of the death of a disabled person always causes me a special kind of pain, and today is no exception.

RIP Debbie Purdy. My thoughts are with her family.

The death of a person is always sad and horrible for their family and friends. For those with a disability it may seem to some, with this government in power, a long battled release from the two nastiest parties since the Poor Law Reform Acts of the 1830s. In this era of extremes is good to read that it is possible to disagree; while, still retaining respect for someone whose opinion is different to our own. That stated, it has on one or two occasions been beyond me to retain that objectivity when talking to Conservative party supporters. Yes, I do regret these outbursts, but not for saying what I said; rather, the way I made those statements.
