Maximus Will Do One Million WCAs This Year

February 24, 2015

Thanks to Benefits And Work.

Maximus has told the BBC it will do one million assessments this year.

Maximus is being paid £595m over three years to carry out work capability assessments for people applying for employment and support allowance.

The Department of Work and Pensions cut short a contract with Atos last year after “significant quality failures”.

Maximus is promising to clear a backlog of around 600,000 claims.

It is also planning to reduce the time people wait for their results from at least 120 days to the recommended 90 days.

President of health services, Leslie Wolfe, told BBC Radio 4’s You and Yours programme: “Part of what Atos didn’t have was a [big] enough team to keep up with the wait times.

“That’s one of our first priorities. We need to clear about one million [work capability assessment] claims this year.

Maximus is just another ATOS. It’s pretending that it will be touchy feely by bringing onboard the self-serving Sue Marsh & DRUK. Don’t be fooled – it’s sole purpose is to cut benefits.

The WCA is not fit for purpose – that is why the appeals began and the waiting lists became longer and longer. Atos walked away and it wasn’t the DWP that pushed it!!
Maximus will be just a ruthless as Atos, maybe more if that is possible.
As for the so called health professionals, they ought to be ashamed of themselves. Will we end up having medical secretaries doing the assessments? How about medical receptionists? The chemist that you get your medication from could send their shop assistant to help out! Physiotherapists don’t know about illness and diseases, and they don’t know about mental health problems and the same goes with occupational therapists.
Doctors and nurses who work for these disgusting “companies” are not true health professionals. If all medical and surgical doctors of all shapes and sizes took on the DWP and the WCA, then this type of assessment would collapse.
