JobCentre Telling People Wrong Appointment Times So They Can Be Sanctioned

April 8, 2015

With many thanks to Job Seekers UK.

Just a heads up- the Job Centre have a new tactic. They’re booking appointments and telling people the wrong time so the miss the appointment and can be sanctioned. Remember to check the time listed on any letters and to make sure it’s what you expected.

I think people should be emailing the DWP/JC+ and asking them 2 weeks before if they are told they would be sent a letter but haven’t received it, that they were given a date and time (input date & time) and would like confirmation by email no less than 48 hours before the time you have stated earlier, or 7 days if they wish to respond by letter. Failing this and I am referred for a sanction will result in legal action against jobcentre plus for compensation of £1500 plus £50 per day, until full settlement is paid, the £50 per day will come into effect 48 hours after the judgement against JC+/DWP which will give enough time for you to receive email confirmation of losing the case and issue a same day payment.

If you have an outdoor postbox ie a post box that does allow letters direct entry into your home, you would be well advised to tell the DWP that any correspondence should be backed up via email or phone. The reason being that outdoor post boxes can be interfered with and are therefore not a guaranteed method of delivery. I always insist on a backup contact as often my mail goes missing.

Try having them threaten to sanction you for not turning up to an appointment they set up for a bank holiday Monday and then didn’t inform you of.
I can only assume they wanted me to break into the empty office to make sure I attended. SMH!

If you’re going to get mad do it for a good reason, not for an unsubstantiated claim by, as far as I can tell, one person. Believable it may be but that isn’t evidence.

sadly this will only get worse. After much thinking, I do believe that it is sadly inevitable that the tories will win in May. Anything else will be a pure miracle.

The poor / non voter outnumber all other voters today.

The Tories did not win in 2010.

Most voters did not come out to vote in the voting areas where they ‘won’ in 2010.

Sometimes double, sometimes by 4 to 1.

The miracle is in your hands.

Because we can vote different and take Tory and Lib Dem MPs out of their MP jobs on Thursday 7 May.

And bring in a group of parties guaranteed to be anti austerity cuts, and that is the sole way to form a majority UK parliament, that no single party will ever again be able to achieve.

We are the 75 per cent of all voters today.

Because the poor are not only the unemployed, but the working poor and poor pensioners, poor disabled and new pensioners coming from 2016 going to be denied any state pension for life.
      See end of:
      https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/state-pension-at-60-now

Sanctions will hit pensioners because of Universal Credit and the raised retirement age, and the working poor, because sanctioned for part timers unable to gain full time hours.

Carer’s allowance lost to 40 per cent of claimants, when absorbed by Universal Credit.

Pensioners and younger disabled, taxed before get the ever more lost Disability Living Allowance, the new Personal Independence Payments and on Attendance Allowance.

Universal Credit absorbs income based JSA and ESA.

The Tories are talking of axeing contribution based JSA and ESA.

The Tories are talking of cutting the current state pension, being received by pensioners with no other pension provision in life and already the lowest of all rich nations.

And sanctions will become permanent under Universal Credit because the replacing lesser money of Hardship Payments will cease to be a benefit and become recoverable loan by direct deductions from your future benefit or wages by court action.

Housing benefit will be absorbed by Universal Credit and there is talk of putting council tax support within it as well.

This is the Vote or Starve election.

And you are not even being told about all the anti austerity parties of the poor of the left.
The media is entirely silent about them all, even TUSC, the 6th biggest party in the UK.

The SNP in Scotland pays the poor peoples’ council tax support and bedroom tax, so that the poor can eat and not become homeless. The SNP have enough devolution to protect their people from all the worse that is to come, if we do not come out and vote different.

if you vote conservative and lets be crystal clear here no ifs or butts you are voting for the deaths of many types of people and hardship

those deaths will haunt you in later life that you can be sure off only selfish people will be immune from that so the public need to think on and clear and stop playing the fool

Just goes to show that ALL JobCentre interaction needs to be recorded, whether phone calls or in person, any examples of shitty behaviour should go to the press.

I usually sign in every 2 weeks, but on this occasion was given a letter stating I need to attend a group session at the ground floor of jobcentre during the week at 9.30. I was told make sure you turn up around 9am like all working people do and have all job search ready for inspection. On arrival to the jobcenter at 08.50 I realised all the shutters were down, so decided to wait till 9 thinking the centre will open, around 9.15 I realised there’s no one else here! And searched the building to find a opening times sign which read the jobcentre will open at 10am. WTH
So I left and came home and going to leave it for a clerical error. I’m signing back on my original day in a week and good I don’t get hanged for their mistake.

Make sure you bring your signing on card and get the bastards to sign it with your next appointment, more importantly keep them all. Never take the word of any of them, even the ones who you feel are nice. They will do anything to trip up people, total bastards.
