IDS Flees From David Clapson’s Sister
With many thanks to Benefits And Work.
Iain Duncan Smith dropped out of a hustings in his own constituency at the last minute, frightened of facing the sister of David Clapson, the diabetic former soldier who died after his benefits were cut.
IDS should have appeared on a platform with candidates from six other parties in Chingford, north London on Monday night.
Gill Thompson, the sister of David Clapson, was there to talk about how having his benefits stopped for missing an appointment had led to her brother’s death and to call IDS to account.
But, with just hours to go, IDS was suddenly called to “to the north-west of the country” for unexplained reasons.
According to the Daily Mirror, Thompson moved some in the audience to tears as she explained the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death.
“My brother died because of Iain Duncan Smith’s policies,” she said. “He wasn’t a scrounger. He was a former soldier. He died with a pile of CVs next to his body. He was a diabetic. After he was sanctioned he couldn’t even keep his insulin cold in the fridge.”

IDS is a man who takes pleasure in cutting benefits. I heard him say that he wants to make “life-changing” cuts to benefits after the election.

I doubt He’s frightened at all, this is nothing but propaganda. He should be proud of his achievements…the time to end the something for nothing culture is LONG overdue!

Perhaps you have a cushion of savings to fall back on should you meet with an accident or suddenly lose your job through no fault of your own. Some are not in a position to save or insure themselves, also through no fault of their own. The current regime is cruel and unusual, even criminals in prison are not punished with starvation. If IDS is not frightened he is showing psychopathic tendencies.

Chingford and Wood Green
(London)
The great shame is that two true anti-austerity parties are running in competition with each other, so splitting that vote to get IDS out of office.
Sad to say but CLASS WAR look too extreme for the bulk of voters who are over 65.

WHAT DO TUSC OFFER?
With social housing being socially cleansed out of London, TUSC offer:
A mass council home building programme and
immediate introduction of rent controls
Only party offering to
REVERSE THE RISE IN RETIREMENT AGE
PAY A DECENT STATE PENSION
£10 per hour Living Wage to workers.
TUSC AND DISABILITY
On Saturday 25th April TUSC participated in the
DPAC (disabled people against cuts) day of action against Iain Duncan Smith, Tory work and pensions minister and Chingford and Woodford Green MP, in Chingford
TUSC supports the demands of Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC).
As DPAC state, disabled people are affected by the cuts 9 times more than everybody else, and the most severely disabled people are affected by the cuts 19 times more than everybody else.
TUSC agree with DPAC that this discrimination against disabled people must end – and also demand that ALL cuts and austerity must end.
The changes to benefits introduced by the Labour government and intensified by the Tories demonstrate the cold cruelty of capitalist parties who want to force working class people to pay for a crisis we did not cause, and who have sought to wreak their worst on people that they thought were hidden and would be less likely to fight back.
TUSC applaud the bold actions of DPAC in fighting these cuts, and support the ‘Revenge tour’ fortnight of action in the run up to the election.
TUSC rejects austerity.
The richest 1,000 people in Britain have doubled their wealth through this crisis, while working class people have lost jobs, pay, benefits, services and even homes.
