what is more concerning is that anyone can be making that call, you have no way of knowing what there qualifications are, the medical face to face are bad enough and how many of them are done correctly, now they seem to think a phone exercise works, they be trying video conferencing with skype next and how are they going to do there anxiety test, they base that on rocking back and fourth on a chair, which is not really a test for anxiety anyway, this sounds like another exercise where there trying to do as many assessments as possible for financial gain, i wonder if it is a call centre type operation as that is what the assessment process is beginning to remind me of, I stated at the outset they need outside regulation of the process and that includes the disciplinary side which is very biased towards the assessors and to be honest when they are caught doing something wrong, do you believe that anything is done, they might get suspended or sacked, has anyone heard of the actual company reporting any of there staff to the hcp or nmc, check the hearings list on either of there websites, there is very rarely a wca assessor case, plenty where trusts have referred a professional for wrongdoing but none for any of the companies concerned does that tell you a story
having looked this up. it appears to be a number based in Andover. (think that’s Hampshire area) . benefits and work forum have messages about this number from 4-5 yrs ago. but no mention of losing benefits then. harrassment with loads of calls startin at around 8am and at intervals during the day in some cases. one member was told when her hubby rang the number back that it was ATOS based in newcastle. though if its an andover number she/he must have been lying(the operator not the person complaining about it.) ..definitely not newcastle anyway as i have a friend there and code is 01912. not 01264…..i then searched for the andover code and guess what?
Searched for Andover
The code for Andover is 01264
mystery or not? seems it definitely is ATOS
if you google the number look down the list for the benefits & work forum entry on this. but as i say it is 4/5 yrs old now.
There;s no text in this post when I click on it, just the comments. Would anyone like to be a kind soul and just cut and paste the whole thing into a comment? Thanks!

It seems that DWP or Atos are trying to conduct Medical Assessments over the phone. People who have answered calls from this phone number have lost their benefits.
They’ve been doing this for ages, when I was with the CAB, I helped a person with Alzheimer’s disease, the DWP rang her to ask further questions, fully knowing she didn’t understand her condition, they specifically targeted her, wouldn’t speak to her husband, she was refused benefit, we appealed and she won in 5 mins
The real issue is whether or not it is a call centre, you should be carefull about accepting these calls and answering the questions without seeking advice and in the case of someone with limited capabilty they should not even be attempting to contact at all, firstly you don’t know there qualifications, secondly in there own medical letters they state that you should be accompanied,if you also stated that you were recording the conversation, i would guess the conversation would end quickly, thirdly in terms of vunerable adults there is the question of ethics and legality of this, considering that one of there own nurses has just been struck of for doing phone in medicals when they should have been face to face, this proves that there is a issue with this, lastly ti would be prudent to remind anyone calling to do a phone assessment that you do not consent to this and that they should follow there own rule book and arrange a medical at a approved assessment centre with a approved wca assessor and that if you cannot attend a assessment due to disability or condition they should arrange one as a home assessment, allowing suitable time for representation etc and as neil Vaughan states, this would probably not go to well at a tribunal as by law most of this type of assessment compared to state ie altzeimer’s would have been inadmissable evidence

Also there should be 11 digits in a UK phone number
The number is the outgoing number for a call centre. We have the same thing here across the pond.
