There appears to be no consultation and no equality impact assessment even though the DWP and ATOS are already implementing the changes. Apart from the obvious implications for those with a learning disability and those who have a mental health issue, they are targeting those with other long standing conditions who struggle to cope with taking medication for example due to limited dexterity or cognative impairment , that may be related to an underlying physical condition or prescription medication. Obviously it isn’t important for us to take medicationi, or carry out other medical therapy. They want us to self care, but we can’t without some help. How many more hospital admissions will result simply because we couldn’t carry out prescribed treatment and how are we supposed to get to health appointments? How many of us have ended up depressed and sucidal at the social exclusion they have/ are imposing on us? Bumping us off is cheaper all round. Where has the extra billions they talk of gone to when thousands of people are having lower or non existent PIP awards when they transfer from DLA?They are not giving “those most in need more” the highest PIP award is the same as old highest DLA.
