Three charities supporting accessible and inclusive cycling across the UK are set to benefit from new electric tricycles after being selected as the winners of a nationwide community giveaway by Jorvik Tricycles.

Shopmobility York, Monty’s Bike Hub in Southampton and Cycling 4 All in Wrexham have each been awarded an adult electric tricycle worth £1,000. The organisations will put the tricycles to use in their local communities, helping more people experience cycling and the independence and social connection it can provide.

The giveaway invited charities and community organisations across the UK to nominate themselves, with entries judged on the impact each organisation has in its community, how a tricycle could enhance its work and how it would contribute to its wider aims.

Supporting inclusive cycling

For the three winning organisations, the new tricycles are intended to provide practical support for their work helping people access cycling.

Cycling 4 All, which operates across North Wales and the border counties, provides inclusive cycling opportunities for people of different abilities. Trustee Karen Balmer said the new tricycle would help the charity reach more disabled and disadvantaged people.

“We are thrilled to have been awarded a Jorvik Tricycle,” said Balmer.

“As a small charity serving communities across North Wales and the border counties, we are committed to providing inclusive cycling opportunities for people of all abilities.

“This valuable addition to our fleet will enable more disabled and disadvantaged individuals to access cycling, helping them enjoy the independence, social inclusion and improved wellbeing that cycling can provide.”

The tricycle will become part of the charity’s existing fleet and support its efforts to make cycling available to a wider range of people.

Three organisations, one shared goal

The three winners each work with their own local communities, but share a focus on improving access to cycling and mobility.

Shopmobility York supports people who have mobility difficulties, while Monty’s Bike Hub in Southampton works within its community to encourage access to cycling. Cycling 4 All focuses specifically on inclusive cycling opportunities across North Wales and the surrounding areas.

Jorvik Tricycles said the giveaway was launched as part of its commitment to making cycling more accessible and helping more people experience the freedom and independence associated with cycling.
