George Takei Apologises For THAT Meme

August 14, 2014

Personally, I am a part time wheelchair user who can walk. I found the picture hilarious. I shared it on my personal social media, intended as a joke.

However, maybe George Takei’s many fans would have been less offended without the ‘Holy Spirits’ caption.

Or maybe, what people find funny is simply a matter of taste.

Anyway, I’ve just seen that George Takei has now apologised.

I found it funny I know someone in a wheelchair, who can walk but that not why he needs a wheelchair, it’s his heart that’s the problem, he gets out of breath if he walks more than a few meters without rest. I did find the joke funny but I see with all the stuff the government as pumped out in the last few years a joke like that can have serious consequences these days especially when people now think that all people who are disabled are faking it, when in reality hardly anyone at all pretends.

No-one would care less about full or part inability to walk, if all the hype about the tiny minority of criminals within the vast majority of vulnerable, that is merely an endeavour to end the welfare state for all, able bodied or not.

I get just such a reaction when getting up to reach up or down from the Sainsburys free mobility scooter / trolley, because I cannot now walk about pushing the trolley in the large supermarkets. And I never even gained benefit and will never gain, despite mobility lessening by the year.

The Greens would end this politics of spite and envy, with their 2015 manifesto pledge of:

    – universal non-means tested Citizen Income, non-withdrawable, in or out of work.

If Labour took this on board as a 2015 manifesto pledge as well, and added bringing back in 2015 the state pension lost to women at 60 from 2013, when many lost or never gained disability benefits, and brought in men’s state pension at 60 in 2015?

Then Labour would win so big in 2015, Labour would even gain the 41 Labour MPs in new seats in England and Wales lost to a Free Scotland, that would ever protect the Scottish vulnerable from a Tory government that Scots never vote for.

Because the Pensions Bill 2010 – 2014 leave many vulnerable women with no food / fuel money forever in old age from lost benefits and lost state pension (not a benefit), to those born from 1953 and to men born from 1951.
