Katie Hopkins Blaming Her Epilepsy For The Things That Come Out Of Her Mouth
Same Difference has been aware for some time that Katie Hopkins has epilepsy.
But discovering her disability didn’t make us like her any more than we already didn’t!
Now, today, we have been hearing reports that Katie Hopkins has been blaming her epilepsy for the things that come out of her mouth.
Things like this. And this. And this.
Same Difference would like to state very clearly that we do not believe for one second that Katie Hopkins’ epilepsy has anything at all to do with her personality or opinions.
Epilepsy is never any excuse for revealing outdated, extremely offensive, opinions in public places or spaces.
No disability is ever any excuse for being extremely offensive and hurtful to anyone. No disability can, or should, ever be used as an excuse for, in plain English, talking rubbish.
Here at Same Difference, we believe that Katie Hopkins’ writings and Tweets are deliberately controversial. She sets out to offend as many people as possible as deeply as possible.
This is simply a result of her extremely unpleasant personality.
The thought that she is blaming her disability for her thoughts and opinions and her decisions to reveal them in public only makes us hate her even more than we already did.
This is quite possibly the most offensive thing she could ever say, or suggest, about anyone with any disability.

Epilepsy is no way to blame for Katie Hopkins outbursts. Only certain mental disorders would account for such outbursts like Schizophrenia

my daughter has epilepsy and developed schizophrenia, when my daughter just had epilepsy she was a sweet gentle person. unfortunately before she had her schizophrenia under control, she became a different person, initially very active, talkative, not afraid ,on the go 24/7, the next phrase was horrendous, she is now on anti psychotic med and anti convulsant as she has the two disorders together. If what Katie Hopkins is saying is true (which I doubt ) she seems to have a lot of insight,which is unusual. If she knows its a neurological condition causing her to make these comments, the media should not give her airtime. She is not a very good ambassador for people who have epilepsy.

Some types of epilepsy can cause people to do and say all sorts of weird things, such as exposing themselves in public. Katie Hopkins daily exposes herself as a hateful bigot. She is bad, but she is just a stupid woman who has turned 90% of the British public against her. The real evil in all this is in the cynical media institutions that are using her as a mouthpiece and her controversy to boost sales.

Furthermore, it most definitely does not explain why she repeatedly writes such terribly offensive stories in a national newspaper. Let’s think about that process. She writes the storey, having planned the content and its arrangement, then reads it through for grammatical errors, typos etc. Sends the storey to the appropriate ‘news’ editor’, who sometimes asks her to make alterations, she makes those, and so on. My point is that this is not a spontaneous process, but one that offers several instances where either this lady, or the news editor, could correct momentary rants brought on by a mental illness, Next, if you found yourself writing these awful things, due to a epilepsy, why in Earth would you open a twitter account and kept making these mistakes several times a week? With respect to the news editor at the Sun, there is absolutely no defence at all to be derived from this lady’s epilepsy.

I have son who suffered terrible epilepsy, but a decent upbringing meant he never searched for the limelight, or uttered such rude, offensive, claptrap. Indeed he shows a great deal of understanding and empathy for others. I don’t believe she has said sorry for the offence she has caused to many either. If she really has this disability, you would think she would have more compassion for others. Sorry the whole story doesn’t wash. A very evil woman, with a supersized ego and mouth to match.

I can’t understand why she has not been prosecuted for hate crimes, which she is most definitely guilty of. She can access many more people with her bigoted views than another individual who may be arrested for hate crimes against a single disabled person. This makes her crime far more serious.
